ICY BOX ROCKS! - I ve got about 10 ICY BOX external disk boxes. Putting disks in em is a doddle. Attaching them to a computer is a doddle. I have em ranged from 250GB IDE to 1TB SATA (The SATA boxes are a little bigger than the IDE boxes for whatever reason). I have been using them for nearly 6 years and they just work! No noisy fans. No faffing about. 4 big screws holds the lid on and 4 little screws hold the disc in place. External disk drives could not be easier..... oh and I have one built for a DVD-ROM and guess what! It just works!

A non starter - I have just taken delivery of my item and eagerly unwrapped it in anticipation of getting a low cost solution for additional PC storage. Only to find that the thing is fitted with a European Plug!!Why sell electrical goods to a country that can t use them. Well, not without an unsightly adaptor any way. What a let down.

Almost Perfect External Enclosure - As soon as you get it out the box it oozes the professional touch. Made from metal, I was shocked to find it so much smaller and lighter than I had pictured it. It s a lovely design and with the inclusion of an eSATA connection along with USB 2 it makes it an almost perfect addtion for all levels of end user. A Firewire 400 and/or 800 connection would have been the ultimate addition to make me completely happy but for now this will do!!In the box - apart from all the usual suspects i.e cables, power supply etc - it also includes a PCI type card allowing you to connect the drive via eSATA (Cable included) to your internal SATA connections (if you have them) on your motherboard. Very handy!!It s a fanless design with perforated metal all around the edges to keep it cool, so whatever SATA drive you choose to put in will be the only noise you ll ever hear (I have a Samsung 500Gb as these are renound for there silent running and reliability - works a treat).All in all a beautiful piece of engineering, just a shame they couldn t include the Blue LED s like on there IDE version cases...the ultimate in style!!You won t be disappointed if you buy this, I have bought other external cases in the past, and although reliable they never felt like they d last...... this does!
